I decided to try out a pair of Jamie Thomas’ signature shoe the Rival SL with $5 dollars of the purchase going directly to children in Haiti to provide education, clothing, and medical care. It feels good to purchase skate gear knowing a portion of the money you just spent is going to help out someone else in need.
As far as performance goes, these shoes skated really well. They took a lot more of a beating than I expected and I really liked the added shoe lace protection. There’s nothing worse than trying to track down shoe laces before, during, or after a session. Built upon a cup sole with good board feel, these shoes are constructed of canvas with synthetic leather and had a decent amount of protection, from the heel cup area all the way to the toe box and a bit on the top side with tongue support. All in all, they’re a pretty slim pair of shoes. I had a pair of Rival’s when they first came out and they were much bulkier. Fallen has really come a long ways and slimmed up their whole line of kicks.
So if you’re looking to pick up a pair of shoes that won’t blow out within two weeks time, you should consider a pair of like these. They surpassed my expectations to say the least. Check out the entire line of Fallen skate shoes…made with skateboarding in mind.
