Jerry Hsu’s first signature shoe with Emerica has been out in the skateshops for a minute, and I just so happened to get my feet laced up in a pair recently. At first glance, these fully functional skate hoofs closely resemble a well renowned pro model shoe from another famous San Jose skater. Nonetheless, Mr.Hsu’s version is constructed of high abrasion suede and employs a slimmer feeling vulcanized construction, I put these dogs to the test with an afternoon of skating at the local skatepark and followed up with a few runs down the hill to the nearby convenience store in my hood. With repeated abuse and many foot drags included, Jerry’s chocolate brown shoes the held up just right for their first day out in public. No hammers included, but they held up to my general purpose, expectations and demand for true board feel.
All in all, Jerry’s shoes are solid gold, and thankfully, they’re simply stated and absent of logo saturation and branding embellishments. To deliver and add that personalized Hsu touch, the shoe’s footbeds feature portraits of Jerry in battered times.
Grab a pair at your local skateshop and support the sickness of an individual that lays it on the line in true style all his own. Check out the Emerica site for more information, additional color options and Jerry’s newly released Emerica clothing line too.
