Project Vulcanized - Etnies Shecker 2

A few days ago a box from Etnies arrived on our doorstep and inside were a pair of the new vulcanized Sheckler 2 shoes.

We all know the Ryan Sheckler story…18 years young, Mountain Dew Street champ, Plan B skater and Red Bull endorser. Many people can�t stand him, most secretly admire his skill and the kids can�t get enough. This is Sheckler�s second pro shoe from Etnies Footwear and, of course, he�s going vulcanized.

Now, right out of the box I had a hard time with these. I was almost knocked over by the pink and yellow color-way. I�m sure these are �limited edition� and I�ve heard these are the colors he wore at the X-Games last year�but um, they’re a bit much. After consulting various websites I saw that they are available in solid black, red and brown, which is good to know. Did I mention ours are bright pink and yellow? I�m sure his young, female fans will snatch these up faster than they can log on to a Sheckler My Space page�but I wasn�t feeling them.

That being said, I did get an afternoon session in and my feet liked them much more than my eyes. I found the sole to be a good thickness with solid board feel�fairly sticky too. Not super sticky, but passible. I�m guessing the suede upper will take a beating because after one afternoon they were still looking new. The one thing that separates these shoes from other vulcanized releases is the overall puffiness. The tongue and heel padding is much, much thicker than a Rowley or adidas shoe. It wasn�t overdone enough to affect board feel, but you could tell these were Etnies.

If you’ve been on the lookout for a pink, yellow and black shoe…you’re in luck. Past that, Etnies have put together a solid vulcanized shoe and I�m sure thousands of skaters and Sheck fans will be stoked on them. No matter what color they are.
