Get Familiar

This is the first video shot, directed and produced by one Chris Hall. Hall should be well known by all of you who claim to be street skaters as he was a key player in the Washington DC skate scene in the early to mid-nineties. That being said, he brings a unique and street focused view to the film. Add that to an amazing line of of talent and you’ve got DVD gold.

Washington DC’s Bobby Worrest gets things started skating to the sounds of Fugazi. Could this be a stronger part than his memorable section on The Krooked Kronicles? I’m guessing that’s going to be a debate in which everyone wins. His ender at Pulaski takes it up a notch.

Fabio Cristiano serves up some original style and Casey Rigney brings an impressive trick list to the table.

Donny Barley skates with force and purpose. It sometimes seems strange to talk about conviction when it comes to skateboarding but Donny has it. Every ledge, lip trick and wall ride is thrown up hard and almost demands to be landed clean. It’s refreshing to see power like this highlighted and rewarded.

Reese Forbes gets in spots from each coast…and it’s always nice to see him killing some of his old DC haunts. Zach Lyons is good. Almost too good. Up, on and over everything in his path.

“Keep the noise down, I’m trying to get radical.” - Gonz
Mark Gonzales is the most creative skateboarder on this planet or any other. Bomb drops, wall rides, pool sessions on long boards, one footed hippy jumps, no complys and much more. All with a free spirit, open mind and mostly likely a cigar between his lips.

I’m speechless. Daewon Song. The tricks are so good no words can do them justice. You can’t think up lines like this. Daewon takes it up a notch and really shows his diversity as a skater. Unreal is not even the word.

Darren Harper has mad pop. All I can say is waist high tail slides. The rest you have to pay for.

I don’t have the room mention all the special guests and insane tricks thrown into Get Familiar. The list would be too long. With all the skaters, tight music selections and clean, clever graphics this is the total package. The bonus features give you a Washington DC history lesson with some extra Gonz footage for good measure. Check out the trailer and then get to your local shop to pick up a copy (or visit the official site to order direct). Help keep true street skating alive. Get familiar.
