Powell Peralta Classic Decks

In recent years, skateboarding has reached a point where its collective history has become increasingly relevant and meaningful to us, and as our bones grow older, we tend to retrace and value our very own memories of youth. To recapture those memories in a material sense, older skaters have sought after the last remainder of vintage skateboards on Ebay, at neighborhood garage sales, flea markets or otherwise. Still, most collectors of yesterday’s prized decks are left with only fleeting memories of their first boards. You know, the ones that provided each of us with our first grinds, rolled beneath our nervous feet with 15 seconds left in our first contest ever entered, or inevitably got us in trouble with the law and/or our parents. It’s been said that one of the best things that skateboarding can provide you is a lasting memory of meaningful and great times. I tend to agree.

Over the past year, Powell-Peralta has re-issued several of its original signature model decks with original shapes, wheelbases, and concaves for those that cherish these childhood memories. The quiver of remakes sent to us included a Kevin Harris freestyle deck, a Caballero Dragon, and Mike McGill’s F14 fighter jet model, all of which were reproduced with mint-like craftsmanship, and bold, clean graphics throughout.

Unlike the era when these decks were first produced, the truck holes on these remakes accommodate today’s newer and shorter baseplate patterns. So, you’re not going to be able to readily bolt your old Sure Grip, Gull Wing, or Motobuilt trucks on for a nostalgic ride. All the same, these classic beauties are ready for action on the streets, ramps, ditches, and pools if you’re ready to drop back in time and take on that challenge. If you’re still feeling a bit sentimental, you can opt to hang one on your wall. You choose. Pick one up online right here.
