New Hires and Replacements

Both Ryan Gallant and Brian Wenning have disappeared from the pro team roster over at the DC site. Where they will end up is anybody’s guess. Blueprint’s Paul Shier is the newest bloke to endorse Insight apparel and its clever team of riders. Chet Childress is no longer repping Australia’s Hoon wheels and now rides the fire. After years of setting the standards and pushing street skating’s progression for the females, Elissa Steamer continues to get gnarly and has been picked up by the swoosh. Ryan Bobier has moved on up to professional status for his years of dedicated efforts on the griptape. Look for his signature stuntwood at your favorite shop now.

London’s Famed South Bank Saved from Redevelopement

A huge success for the skateboarders of London and beyond occurred yesterday. The legendary South Bank has been saved due to the instrumental efforts of Toby Shuall and Winstan Whitter’s insightful film Save Southbank and the concentrated support of skateboarders around the world!

From the British Government’s official response: “The Southbank Center is an independent arts organization and decisions about the Undercroft are a matter for them. However, the Southbank Center recognizes the importance of the Undercroft in bringing together skateboarders from across the UK and the value that the skateboarding community has brought to many young people and the South Bank area itself. Any activity that engages and develops young people can have a very positive impact on society and the skateboarding community that has grown up around the Undercroft has brought together people from various backgrounds, created a vibrant public space and added real value to the lives of many young people.

The Southbank Center has said that it has no plans to redevelop the Undercroft used by skateboarders. In fact, they are in close discussions with the skateboarding community about how to improve the current skateboard area and about how the community might become more involved in the Southbank Center’s artistic program.”

Epicly Later’d , Season 2

Looks like Epicly Later’d is set to return with a Second Season featuring a new piece on NYC’s own Gino Iannucci (teaser here). But that’s just the tip of the iceberg web content wise…here’s what O’Dell has to say:

“Yes, there will be Gino Ianucci and Ethan Fowler, but we will also have Lance Mountain, James Kelch, Brian Anderson, Beauty and the Beast Tour, and more shit with Lakai team than you could possibly ever want. So everyone who ever doubted that there would be Life after Cardiel can now log back onto the Slap Message Board and post that they were sorry they ever doubted Epicly Later’d. And for those of you who believed, thank you.”

Anti Heroes And Girls

Patrick O’Dell was lucky enough to ride shotgun with the Beauty And The Beast tour this spring. He just posted a group of photos he took documenting the experience over at Vice. In his own words:

“This spring I went on probably the heaviest skateboarding tour I will ever go on, as far as the presence of legendary skaters goes. The Girl and Anti Hero teams decided to do a two-week tour of the Northwest, camping and skating every day. I went along to film it for VBS.TV. I couldn’t believe I was even there to see such amazing skating.”
