Staring at Kevin Connolly

Born without legs, Kevin Connolly has traveled around the world on his skateboard for the past two years to shoot a series of digital images for his personal photography project, The Rolling Exhibition. His photographs which are shot entirely from his hip and his low-angled perspective, reveal a series of images that depict strangers on the streets of the world with assorted stares and expressions ranging from fear to confusion to anxiety with reactions to his birth defect.

Fallen Makes it Count for Johnny Romano

Jamie Thomas and Fallen footwear have designed a special edition of the brand’s popular Chief skate shoe solely in support of Johnny Romano and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Tony Hawk Becomes the Father to a Daughter

Tony Hawk and his wife Lhotse welcomed the birth of their daughter Kadence Clover on Monday, June 30th in La Jolla, CA. Fathering his first daughter, the Birdman has three sons Riley, 15, Spencer, 9, and Keegan, 6, from previous relationships. Congratulations to the Hawks!

According to this news report, Billabong has added Sector 9 to broaden the corporation’s portfolio yet differentiating from its Element brand. The purchase also includes Sector 9’s Gullwing trucks, a favorite amongst longboarders.

Peralta To Document LA Gangs

Legendary skateboarder, Bones Brigade founder and film maker Stacy Peralta’s new project is a documentary chronicling the social history of gang violence in South Central focusing on the Crips and Bloods.

Entitled Made In America, the film follows his skate film ‘Dogtown and Z Boys’ and his surfing doc ‘Riding Giants’. Read a brief overview of the film here and check out some video over at IMDB. No word on release dates but details can be found at the official site film site.

Venice Beach Skatepark Nears Construction Phase

According to this local newspaper report, Venice Beach skaters will see the construction efforts of a long overdue 16,000 square foot beachfront skatepark this fall. Check out the proposed $2 million dollar plan.
