Well we sure had a great afternoon of skating with our crew on this GSD and sure hope you did as well. But seriously, we’re wondering who else out there made as big of an impact on humanity today with their skateboard as this guy above did. Skating on a jam-packed highway in Southern California to raise attention to the merits of skateboarding as a commute alternative? High fives and hands down, he’s got us all beat. Hmmm… that goofy footed dude looks really familiar!

Although we firmly believe that every day truly is “Go Skateboarding Day”, it just so happens that this year the official GSD takes place this Saturday, June 21st all around the world with many, many events planned. Make the most of it no matter where you are!

Notable events include: Emerica’s “Wild in the Streets” - New York, NY The entire Emerica team will be out in full force rolling along with everyone else, taking over the city streets of New York. This is THE place to be!
Cowtown’s Golden Egg Quest - Phoenix, AZ. On Saturday, June 21st at 6pm, with the support of Emerica, Fourstar, and Girl Skateboards, Cowtown is opening up their warehouse for everyone to skate their mini ramp and some street props out back for a night of skateboarding, food, entertainment, more skateboarding and finally the Golden Egg Quest. They throw out maps of an undisclosed area of the city where they’ve hidden tons of golden eggs filled with product vouchers for all kinds of free skateboarding product.
etnies’ Pier Pandemonium - Huntington Beach, CA
Come skate with etnies on Go Skateboarding Day and help raise money for Johnny Romano! This event kicks off at 6pm. Participants are encouraged to meet at their local skate shops, skate to the Huntington Beach Pier and then down to the jetties.
Four local shops are supporting the event. etnies is giving each of the shops a backpack for the raffle. Tickets will be sold at $1 a piece to support one of our favorite and most inspirational pros, Johnny Romano. All donations will go to Johnnykickscancer.com. etnies will be creating their own backpack full of goodies, accepting donations and raffling their backpack as well. At the jetties tents will be setup with food and drinks. Donations will be tallied and the raffle for each backpack will be pulled. Link up for an afternoon of skateboarding, fun and a great cause!

2008 Gorge Games to Include Bowl Jam and Game of SKATE
The Gorge Games are returning to Hood River, Oregon next month with several skateboarding events, but will exclude street and vert. Go figure huh? Regardless, we’ll be on site to check out the Mini Bowl Jam and eS Game of Skate events.
A televised broadcast of the Gorge Games hits the armchair skateboarders from August 18th through August 22nd on Fox Sports Networks.
With gasoline prices now climbing over $4 bucks a gallon, we’re not sure who’s ready to step up and jump into the brand new seats of this rather large and custom essuvee.

Proceeds from the sale of this Jeep will benefit the Tony Hawk Foundation and its mission to help bring free, quality public skateparks to youth in low-income areas.

The Foundation focuses on working with local officials and grassroots, community-based organizations that plan to hire designers and contractors with strong experience designing and building skateparks.
Fury Team Mates Arto and Lance Grind Ahead in Different Directions
Following his recent change of board and shoe sponsors, Arto Saari has opted to roll in a new direction with his current choice of trucks as well. He is heading up the development of a new truck and team under the Destructo brand with the project code name D2. Will his signature truck be named the Arto D2? We’ll just have to wait and see won’t we? Speaking of trucks, Lance Mountain is now back on the Independent Truck Co. team (and its 30th anniversary tour) where he belongs.
Master skate photographer Mike O’Meally is delivering a solo photo show Far From Home at the Dactyl Gallery in New York next week and if you’re in the area you should definitely roll by and check it out. The show opens on Friday, June 27th and runs through Friday, July 18th.

Portland Maine has recently reversed it’s downtown skate ban as they see skateboarding as a possible commute option. With gas at over $4 it would be nice to see more people skating to work and school. But “sliding”? Let’s just say any sort of skate ban lift is a good thing.
We just received an electronic mail message from Nieratko over at NJ skateshop giving us the heads up on the Red Bull Jersey Barriers contest. Red Bull created 12 custom Jersey barriers for 12 shops and is running an ongoing online video contest with you, the viewer, rating the best footage. Then what?

At the end of three months the overall Top 5 clips will be watched and voted on by the Red Bull Skate Team and they will pick a best trick and best shop. For best trick the skater wins $1000, the best shop will also earn $1000 as well as that shop’s filmer/editor an additional $1000. The winners will be announced later this summer.

Rune Glifberg repeated victory at Quiksilver’s Bowlriders in Malmo, Sweden yesterday while Arizona’s super-skilled teen phenom Aaron “Jaws” Hamoki blew minds (including his own) to land in second place.
Danish ripper Nicky Guerrero edged out Chris Miller to seize the top spot in the Legends final.
