Change Ups
News releases and electronic information confirm that Jereme Rogers and Momentum wheels have parted ways. Guy Mariano is once again back with Rudy on Royal trucks. NSS shoes has announced the enlistment of Chad Knight, Tom Knox, and Brian Sumner to its team. And although no official word has been distributed to media , but both Tony Hawk and Bam Margera are no longer included on the team roster at the Adio site. Their signature shoe models are gone as well. Is something more significant in the works?

Rick McCrank And Peta2
Rick McCrank is teaming up to Peta2 to promote vegetarianism. He’s featured in this print ad stating, “I am a professional skateboarder, entrepreneur, and father. For me, eating meat feels unnatural.” It’s a bit odd that Rick also has a leather and suede pro-model shoe…but I guess he isn’t eating his shoes so Peta doesn’t mind.
Momentum Wheels is also stepping up with a prize pack that includes wheels, T-shirts and stickers. You can enter to win here.

Fighting for London’s South Bank
The skaters of London and beyond need your support in saving the Southbank skateboard area from becoming re-developed into a commercial shopping area!
Since the early 70s “The Undercroft” (the sheltered area beneath the Queen Elizabeth Hall on London’s Southbank) has served as the centerpoint of the skateboarding community in the UK. It’s an open public-space that has brought together thousands of young people, from various backgrounds, over the last 35 years to form a harmonious and positive community. But the free and open public area is now under threat and could soon be no more!
Please spend the next 20 minutes to checkout a very observant documentary film “Save The Southbank” that has been produced by Winstan Whitter and Toby Shuall to generate an understanding of the area and the important situation at hand. Do your part and sign the online petition to join the fight!
*Note - In order sign the petition you have to be a UK resident, but perhaps you can get creative with a Google search and make up an address for the cause. Get to it!

Return of the Snakes
Our pals at Skate and Annoy have tipped us off with a bit of visual information pointing to the resurgence of the 70’s skatepark era snake run. Several hybrid skateparks are employing snake features within their designs including Portland, Oregon’s (4th of 19), Gabriel Park which has just broken ground, a wee-sized snake in Wake Forest, North Carolina and a pay to play effort in Naples, Florida.
Outdoing them all, Mark Scott and a host of skaters and volunteers just completed phase 4 in Lincoln City with a steep snake that drops over 30 feet in elevation, gives you the butterflies and empties into a wide and vertically abundant bowl at the bottom. Buy a LC Snake tee shirt or two right here to support the LC skatepark cause and help to complete the construction efforts underway. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap!
Lastly, how about this Japanese snake that’s set to open next week near Chiba at the lavish surf side Villa Spica resort? Not good enough? Well, their adjacent left hand kidney pool looks to be worthy of the jet lag to get there.

Tampa Pro 2008 Final Results
2008’s Tampa Pro is a done deal. Sweltering in the SPoT’s hot box of humidity, highlights from the semi-finals and finals included Rattray’s rapid fire barrage of tricks, Busenitz’s speedy and adaptive abilities, a couple of shaved heads and pony tails, a ho-ho demonstration by Chris Casey, Koston’s unmatched skill and sense of humor and a live webcast with the play-by-play by a couple of skate-crazed MCs. Notably, the re-emergence of Matt Beach’s professional career was great to witness as he made the cut into the finals with much more than average versatility. Like Mariano, he’s definitely back where he should be!
Unfortunately, while it all went down Antwan Dixon spent time behind bars with 5 felonies stacked up against him. Not good.
Look for a full recap of the action with photos and video in the coming days on the SPoT and 411VM sites. Final results are below.
