Tampa Pro Begins Now!

The Skatepark of Tampa’s “Tampa Pro 2008” kicks off today with plenty of fun and entertaining activities in the mix. Below is the schedule of events throughout the weekend. Due to the death of SPoT’s vert ramp, the Am And Pro vert events will be held off site and hosted on the Red Bull ramp which has been set up nearby at the Cuban Club in Ybor City. Be sure to catch the action of the street semi-finals and finals live on the web via 411VM.com on Sunday at 12pm EST.

Friday, March 21st
Skatepark of Tampa
Open Pro Street practice all day
3pm Riders’ Meeting
12pm - Team Manager/Industry VIP Street Contest

Cuban Club/Ybor City
10am - 4pm - Open Am and Pro Vert Practice
4pm - Open Am Practice
5pm - Am Vert Qualifiers and Finals
8pm - Heritage Art Show Reception featuring Lance Mountain, Mark Gonzales, and Neil Blender

Saturday, March 22nd
Skatepark of Tampa
9am - Doors Open
11am - Pro Street Qualifiers
Skaters get two, 50-second runs, the best run counts. Top 30 advance to Semi-Finals. Top two “Golden Ticket” spots go directly to Finals.

Cuban Club/Ybor City
12pm - 6pm - Heritage Art Show Gallery open for free during specified times
12pm - 6pm - Open Pro Vert Practice
6pm - “Six Pack” Pro Vert Contest and Finals
Six back-to-back combo of tricks, anything goes, five runs. Best run counts. Top five skaters advance to the final 20 minute jam to determine the winner.
8pm - Pro Party 2008 with Band of Horses and Special Guest Kimya Dawson


Sunday, March 23rd (via live webcast at 411VM.com)
12pm - Pro Street Semi-Finals
Two, one-minute runs, best counts. Top 10 advance to Finals

Almost a Moat Race

Pro Street Finals Top 12 skaters get three, one-minute runs, best counts
Silver Trucks’ Best Trick on all handrails in front of judging platform

Well Deserved

Over the years, Ramiro “Furby” Salcedo has worked hard to earn his keep in the streets and has been rewarded and welcomed to the Krew by his homies and peers. Meanwhile, rookie pro Shuriken Shannon has been added to the squad at Billabong. And this just in, Matt Beach comes out of retirement to go professionally Mental this time around.

Zered Basset Signature Shoe

DVS has just given Zered Basset his own signature shoe and there’s lots going on. Head over to a special DVS mini-site and you can view some videos and photos of Zered doing his thing in NYC. Then coming up on April 3rd, there’s an autograph session at Rival Skate Shop from 3-5pm followed by a party at the Gallery Bar at 8pm. In NYC it’s all Zered, all the time…
