Testing Functionality in Nor Cal

Just a few days prior to Christmas, a select and able crew received an invitation for a secretive skate session at the yet-to-be-opened Lake Cunningham skatepark. The reason was simple. An afternoon of test grinds and slashes upon the skate pacifier’s massive footprint located on the edge of Silicon Valley’s landscape. Check the overview photo!

Home to legendary “Skate Verterans”, Rick Blackhart and Steve Caballero, two or three thriving skate rock bands, a dozen or so hipster transplants and of course the colorful and skilled Tiltmode crew, the success of this San Jose, CA skatepark remains to be seen.

Leave the blades, bikes, scooters and heelies at home kids…this isn’t just another skatepark turned daycare facility. This one’s large and it’s gonna cost ya! Yup, word has it, come grand opening sometime in March of the new year, you’ll have to fork over $2 per session (with pads) plus a parking fee.

Meanwhile, the streets are still free.
