Gonz Unveils The Mini Big Kahuna

If you’re in the New York City area during the early evening hours, drop on by for the launch and signing of “The Mini Big Kahuna” a new limited edition skateboard deck by Mark Gonzales, published as a fund raising edition for Printed Matter. The Gonz will be signing his custom designed decks during the opening of GiftlandVIII: the Revenge of Giftland, a special holiday sale of disparate and serial work by many artists.

The “Mini Big Kahuna” is in a signed and numbered edition of 100 and
sells for $150.00.

Printed Matter will also be releasing new skateboard editions by
artists Liam Gillick and Ari Marcopolous which will be available a
later in December.

Underskatement In The Chronicle

The San Francisco Chronicle has posted this story on Underskatement Vol. 4, happening this weekend in SF. They speak to festival co-founder Andreas Trolf and Dan Wolfe about his entry in the festival.

Our favorite ‘what the hell?’ line in the piece: “Tommy Guerrero, who with the footage of his days as a Bones Brigade and Powell Peralta skateboarder in the ’80s, has become like the Al Pacino or Robert De Niro of skateboarding films.” Huh?

Underskatement 4.0 Set to Premiere

The 4th annual Underskatement Film Festival kicks off the Northwest leg its upcoming tour in San Francisco this Saturday night, December 1st. Word has it that short film submissions from Jon Humphries, Dan Wolfe, Eric Noren and Rick Charnoski and Buddy Nichols are in the line up amongst others… definitely not an event to miss. New Hires and Replacements

Far from Freedumb and not getting any younger, Dan Drehobl has been told to clean up his act and is now buttoned up to join Kenny Anderson and Anthony Poppalardo with signature collections over at Elwood clothing. Breaking the vicious cycle and recollecting himself in Las Vegas, it has been said that Anthony “Ragdoll” Scalamere has re-emerged to earn another chance with a spot on Crimson skateboards’ roster. Although not publicly announced on its new site, I Path’s originator Matt Field and his cohort Bigfoot have both been let go from the environmentally sustainable footwear and apparel brand.

Skater Shot And Killed At Local Park

In a tragic turn of events skater Mike Reed was shot and killed last Wednesday as he tried to stop a robbery at his local park in Fontana, California. Read the full article here. Mike could have been any of of us as he cared greatly about his local scene and fellow skaters. He will be missed by many.
