Sleighing Sacto
It’s that time of year. The 27th Annual N-Men Christmas party takes place on Saturday, December 1st at The Distillery in Sacramento. Head on downtown for some live music, door prizes, debauchery with Windsor, projected vintage skate footage from Mike Chantry, and a great time with the OG legends of Sacto shred. What’s more…time to dust off those pads with a skate session at Granite park before the party kicks off and a hangover session the next day.
Katen are you there?

Twin’s Collision Results in Death at Skatepark
A bit of sad and very unusual new comes to us this morning. Twin brothers Michael Jeansonne, 44, of Denham Springs, LA, and Anthony Jeansonne, 44, of Baton Rouge, LA collided at a skatepark in Nashville, Tennessee where one of them (wearing a helmet) unfortunately died as a result.
Michael’s friend, Neal Boyd, provided us these heartfelt words.
“Mike originally came from California many years ago, but had since set up and established himself as a Louisiana local… he was beloved in Baton Rouge and Hammond, as well as all parts in between. He lived and breathed skateboarding… every weekend he would come to Hammond and set up a literal campsite with his brothers and son, putting up tents and throwing meat on the grill for the locals to enjoy.
He was working on a project before he passed that included photos of all of the local rippers skating. His plan was to pin each of those images onto the fence of the Dreamland built Hammond skatepark and set up a portable/temporary photo gallery of all the rippers. A gallery that was going to expand over time. Words cannot express the impact he had on our scene. He was a skater’s skater, and anyone that knew him loved him.”
“Our hearts are broken, but we will continue to ride in his honor, and the honor of his family and the rest of his friends. We want to especially share some love with Mike’s son Eric, whose grief we can only imagine.”
We have some classic pics of Mike shredding right here.
Rest in Peace Michael.

History Lesson #13 - Board Out of Their Minds
More than 30 years ago, the city of Signal Hill in Southern California played host to a short run of the hairiest skate contests ever. The LA Times recently published this piece that recounts the lore of the legendary downhill race primed with guts, no written rules, plenty of crashes, two (then) unknown Harley Davidson mechanics, the world’s fastest female skateboarder and a drunken spectator clocking in at 36 mph on a Big Wheel.
Wow, those were the days.
