SF Skaters to Lobby for Another Skatepark
The topic of building a public skatepark in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park has been spoken about for decades. Well, the suits are FINALLY starting to understand and recognize that they need to listen and invest in their city’s free wheeling youth.
SF’s bureaucratic red tape is thick, but if you’re down to fight the good fight, show up Thursday at 1 pm at City Hall to lend your support. If not, you can send a quick email of support for the proposed skatepark to the SF Board of Supervisors at: board.of.supervisors@sfgov.org

Sweden’s Modern Skate Memories
Jean-Pascal Strüwer just wrapped his skate film titled “Tidens Minne” (The Memory of Time) that documents the formative Swedish skate scene from 1993-2006. Skaters that are featured include Ali Boulala, Pontus Alv, Mattias Ringstrom, Love Eneroth, Lewis Marnell, Andreas Engelkes and many more. The footage of Boulala is really good from when he was a kid until today and there is also a really stylish line of Tom Penny from 1997 in Paris that no one outside from Sweden has ever seen.
The film is available as a free podcast (in chapters) through this site. Just click on the Transition podcast logo down the page a bit and you’ll be directed to the iTunes library.

Sad Times in the South
In Raleigh, North Carolina John Buchanan was struck by a car on the evening of November 3rd while skating to NC State campus. Unfortunately, John didn’t make it through and passed away today on what would have been his 17th birthday. He influenced many with his upbeat attitude and dedication to skateboarding.
Our sincere thoughts of condolence go out to his family, friends and everyone who was fortunate enough to meet such a great kid.

Selling Shenanigans
Ok, ok…we’ve got to call attention to this matter. Apparently the powers at Mtv are so driven with the financial successes of their past and current skate-related shows, Jackass, Viva la Bam, Rob and Big and Life of Ryan that the media giant is posturing to produce another showcase of skatetastic talent.
Bring in Colorado’s William Spencer. He’s a crazed “parkour skate” kind of guy that was discovered on You Tube with his fantastic wall jams and skate shenanigans. Backed by the financial steam of Mtv, his stunt series will be aiming to boneless and benihana all over your HD TV setup sometime next year. We can’t wait, can you?
