Skateboarding in the Holy Land
Last night the gates were officially open to Israel’s first concrete park which is some 25,000 square feet and includes a flow bowl, an amoeba pool, and a large street area with stairs, rails, manny pads, round ledges, etc. The Tel Aviv Skatepark crafted by Grindline and Mark Hubbard was literally jam packed with skaters. North Americans Dayne Brummet, Josh Evin, and local shredder Avi Luzia were in the mix to celebrate and skate with the energized locals which was then followed up by followed by a concert. Sounds like a proper welcome to the growth of skateboarding in that region of our planet.

Magnetic Marketing
He’s back. Apparently the “worst dude ever” is still up to his old creepy tricks in an effort to justify and sell craptastic jumps as a substitute for the basic ollie. You’ve gotta see his fruit boot inspired “hands free” Ho hos and Andrechts. So hot right now.
Really, just how low can a kook go to comodify skateboarding? And for the record, snowboarding belongs on the snow.

Bigger is Better
Got a minute? Or actually, about 25 of ‘em? This lengthy web clip with an accompanying image gallery features Australian designers and builders Darren White and Simon Oxenham the guys behind the world’s largest skatepark in Shanghai, China. They provide some ideology towards the undertakings of such a large project.
When budget is not an issue and and you’ve got a strong army of 100+ Chinese workers to handle the manpower behind your creative vision, you’re definitely one huge step ahead of the process. The “Bigger is Better” skatepark project took a total of 18 months from the initial brainstorming sessions with OZ skate die-hards Tim “Dorfus” McDougall, Tom, “VB” Flaherty, Renton Millar, Brett Margaritas, and Morgan Campbell to completion.
So grab yourself a beverage and sit back and listen in on how it happened and why. In due time, China’s youth will be gunning for your skate careers. You can reference Brazil’s talent pool of skaters if you have any doubt.
