Tony Hawk Launches Shred Or Die!

The man who brought you branded bicycles, video games, pizza rolls, happy meals and Boom Boom Huck Jams has now taken to the interweb. Yesterday Tony Hawk launched his new website Shred Or Die.

Tony’s 900 Films has partnered with the ‘Or Die Networks’ (remember Funny Or Die? No?) to bring us “the world’s best destination for action sport video, with a focus on skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, BMX, and FMX”. The idea? “Shred Or Die is a place where top action sports athletes, influential filmmakers and everyday users can post their favorite clips”. Hmmm, we’ll see how that goes. First up, the Birdman skates and rides BMX(?) with Ed Helms of The Office / Daily Show fame.

Early 90’s Blind Team In Paris

This is some serious ‘REWIND’ footage. The Gonz, Jason Lee and Danny Way skate Paris as Spike Jonze mans the camera. Some of this tape ended up in ‘Video Days’ but most hit the cutting room floor. It’s hard to imagine this was going down over 15 years ago. It notes that this footage will be available on the ’ Man Who Souled The World’ DVD release.

Thrasher’s Site Gets a Face Lift

Well it’s not a makeover on the level of Burt Reynolds or Phyllis Diller, but head on over to the newly redesigned Thrasher site and you’ll see the new look and improvement. Schmitty’s got the programming of the 1s and 0s dialed. Good to go!

Kid Shuts Down Skatepark with a Pogo Stick

Yes, you’ve seen them…the little ones tooling around your local skatepark with scooters, bikes, these contraptions, soap shoes, heelies and even just sliding around in their socks looking for thrills apart from the skateboarding variety. Well, this news piece has a sad, and unfortunate result due to a kid jumping around on one of these things.

Listen up parents. Look after your kids and remember, a “skateboard park” is designated for skateboards and skateboarders. Skateparks should not be considered as casual day care facilities by any means.

Shredding Again

The San Francisco Chronicle has published a skate culture feature which highlights local Berkeley skater Michael Randolph to point out that a growing number of middle aged skaters have returned to their skating roots as a direct result of the plethora of skate parks widely available to them.

These guys are learning over and taking pointers from the kids. And yes, that was a Low Card hat on his dome.
