What’s My Name?

The rumors are true, Ryan Sheckler has followed in the footsteps of many extreme action sports athletes before him and stepped up to get his surname permanently inked across his shoulders. Hmmm…is the neck area off limits?

Choked for Riding a Skateboard

Regardless of whether or not this disturbing incident took place on “Go Skateboarding Day”, there is no vaild reason as to why a fat ass cop should have the legal right choke and arrest six teenagers for simply rolling along the streets of Anytown USA. Admittedly, it was fun to see ole’ lard ass chase the kid that managed to get away.

Don’t give in to the law’s negative bias and intolerance.

UPDATE: Seems like Officer Joey Williams has been placed on administrative leave while the event is investigated. And here’s a link to the Hot Springs Police department.

Remembering Shane

When Shane Cross tragically left us back on March 7th of this year, it occurred to us all just how many people he met, and connected with. We also heard that his mum, dad and rest of family were eager to hear all the stories they could involving Shane and his adventures. So we have set up a site for Shane’s friends and family.

It is a place where you can leave photos of Shane that the family may not have seen. These could have been shot at demos or out and about. You can also leave messages for his family and friends, or any stories of your personal encounters with Shane. The steps for posting on the memorial site are as follows:

1. Log on to www.shanecross.net
2. Pick and click on whatever section you want to upload to, and register for that section. Anyone can register.
3. Then log in with your personally chosen password and user name.
4. The rest is pretty self explanatory.

Thanks heaps to Dan Borenstein for making the site for Shane, and also Remy Stratton for hooking us up with the pic.

Peace,

Mogan Campbell

Refill Seven Laser Engraved Boards

An article about the Refill Seven show of laser etched skate decks popped up on WIRED last week. You can check out detailed photos of the boards here. There are some great boards by Mike Giant, Pushead, Jim Phillips, Andy Howell and many others. It’s definitely an interesting graphic process, but 500 bucks a board seems a bit steep.

North Shore Skaters Rally Against a Concrete Turd

Oahu’s skaters have been trying for years to get a legit skatepark built on the North Shore. With $750,000 in funds raised, they finally got the “go ahead” to have a Dreamland designed and crafted beauty grace their landscape. You’d think the region of the Pipeline would have a skatepark to match their world renowned big wave, but instead, the city cut the budget stealth-like and hired a handful of unqualified workers to knock out a little bullshit park. Well, the locals were not having it. Check the breaking news from Channel 8 Hawaii. Fight the good fight!

Slaves to Skateboarding

Following the recent departures of Matt Mumford and Anthony Schultz from Black Label and Jon Goeman flying the coop from Birdhouse, the talented trio has teamed up with former Zeroists Jon Allie, Pat Burke and Conhiur Lynn to make up Black Box Distribution’s newly launched Slave Skateboards team. The brand is co-owned and directed by Ben Horton and will have limited product distribution available beginning July 2nd, 2007.

Would one be wrong to guess that the filming for their first-ever video begins now?
