Matix Ams Go Green Tour

For fifteen days this month the Matix Am team will be visiting various local shops travel via Toyota hybrid vehicles. Interesting idea. Go here to check out dates and locations of when Torey Pudwill, Mike Mo Capaldi, Lamare Hemmings, Marty Murawski, Jordan Williams and Mike Anderson will be hitting your town. Less gas is always good.

Who’s ready to step up and sponsor the hydrogen, ethanol and electric tours? Dakine covered vegetable oil last year. What about bicycles and trailers? Straight up skating from park to park? Who’s ready?

Skateboarding Sprouts as Team Sport

Yeah, that headline made us shake our heads too…but this New York Times article is at least an interesting read.

“Jeff Stern has started the California High School Skateboard Club, a league of teams from seven schools in the Los Angeles area that began competing in April. The season concludes Saturday.”

On the plus side he’s got Miki Vuckovich and Nike’s blessing as well as a ‘no coaches’ rule…but there’s also a 50-page book of by laws and optional ‘practices’. Is this really something skating needs? We’ve done pretty good so far.

Call us crazy, but these kids who are hungry for ‘exposure’ should just hit the streets, skate hard and have fun. Sponsorship and glory shouldn’t the goal of picking up your board…it’s just a very, VERY rare benefit.

Ali Boulala Condition Update

Flip has just posted an update an Ali’s condition. Seems like he’s moving forward in leaps and bounds. From their site:

“He partakes in physical therapy on a daily basis, each day becoming stronger and stronger due to all of the excellent hospital food that he can now eat since he no longer requires being fed through his stomach. The hospital has even given Ali an electric wheelchair to assist in longer journeys around the hospital and has undergone the advanced electric wheelchair course, which allows him on short rides on the streets under hospital supervision.”

It also states that Ali is in the process of pimping out his wheelchair. Good to hear. We wish him a solid and quick recovery.
