Skaters Rock for Their Right to Skate
Two skate rockin’ events take place tonight to put the cash right back into skateboarding. Down south at the etnies skatepark, JFA and other amplified shredders will bring the noise to keep the park free for skating in the months to come. In SF, a line up of skaterockists will raise more hell and dough to benefit Bordertown as the DIY skatepark nears green light status. Bad Shit has also been added to the evening’s mix.

Globe Reveals Radness of March Madness
The film crew over at Globe have really gone a level above and beyond to produce a free, online visual document titled “Money for Blood” featuring March’s madness in Oz for most, if not all of the die hard skaters out there (well, at least those with access to a computer and a broadband hookup).
So sit back and feast your eyes on heaps of wicked footage (and plenty of slow mo segments) with gatherings of skating’s best at Globe and Thrasher’s Pizzey Bowl Bash, Mini Madness and the Double Stack Cash Attack. You’ll witness some heavy slams, light hearted laughter, lovely gals, clowns and many of your favorite pros and ams getting in on the action.
Poignantly, there are a few clips of the late Shane Cross as a testiment to his colorful personality and remarkable skating ability.
Also, be sure to view this vivid and heartfelt tribute to the life of Shane Cross from his family and friends, courtesy of Australia’s Slam Magazine.
RIP Shane.

Paranoid Park?
Gus van Sant’s new film Paranoid Park premiered at the Cannes film festival today. Filmed in Portland, the film follows the story of a skater who kills a security guard while visiting the ‘Paranoid Park’ skatepark. The film should hit theaters at the end of the summer. We’re guessing it’s going to be closer to Kids than Gleaming The Cube. We did find this part of this article a bit strange:
“Set in Portland, Oregon, Paranoid Park is also based on a real place, which is one of the world’s leading venues for skateboarders. Paranoid Park is a ‘scary’ place, one the skateboarders explain during the movie. It was where drug dealers and prostitutes previously worked and was built illegally by ‘hard-core freaks.”
Hmmm…is this supposed to be Burnside? Is there a ‘world leader in skateboard venues’?
