P-Rod, Pastras Team Up On Soda Bottle?

The always extreme soft drink Mountain Dew have announced that they will be releasing ‘limited-edition’ aluminum bottles featuring work by various artists and designers. One of the first bottles to hit the shelves is a collaboration between Dew sponsored skater Paul Rodriguez and artist/skater/sound agent Chris Pastras.

It also seems there will be some sort of launch event happening in LA with Rodriguez and Pastras on board. Drink it up people.

International Olympic Committee To Consider ‘Youth Olympic Games’

It seems that even the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is becoming aware that the traditional Olympics aren’t cutting it. According to this article, the IOC is now considering a Youth Olympic Games to begin in the year 2010. What does that mean exactly?

“The YOG would not be a mini-Games, but rather an Olympic series targeted to 14-18-year-olds including the adaptation of different sports that are more relevant to the audience. The format of the YOG includes a Summer and Winter Game series every four years with an anticipated number of athlete participants in the first Summer Games at 3,000 and another 1,000 for the first Winter Games.”

So look out X-Games, the Olympics could be the next to try to cash in. Oh, and here is the list of ‘likely’ events by 2010: “skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, BMX, freestyle rolling, martial arts, Motocross, urban freestyle parkour, speed climbing, krumping?”

It’s great to see skateboarding given the respect it deserves. Right up there next to extreme walking, toy sneakers and some sort of modern clown breakdancing? Hey, IOC…stick to gymnastics and curling.
