Update on Ali Boulala
Flip skateboards has posted on its site that since this past Monday the hospital has been slowly, but surely bringing him out of the medically induced coma. Throughout this process a lot of tests have taken place. The good news on these tests is that Ali’s neck is not broken and the brain scans have been positive. Updates on his improving condition to come as we receive them. Keep your thoughts positive for Ali through this difficult time.

2007 Monster Mastership Cancelled
The European Skateboard Association has announced today the official cancellation of 2007’s Monster Mastership which was scheduled to take place in Leipzig, Germany this summer. For the second consecutive year, this bit of news brings to a halt what would’ve been the world wide skateboarding event’s 25th anniversary. Can a silver anniversary be somehow be arranged for 2008?

The Life of a Stuntwood
On Tuesday, March 20th there will be a FREE screening of “Stuntwood: The Birth, Life, and Death of a Skateboard” in Hollywood.
Directed by Jeff Roe, Stuntwood takes a comprehensive look at skateboarding through the journey of the skateboard itself. From the maple forests of the Great Lakes region to the urban streets where skateboards thrive, Stuntwood follows the wood through factories and the processes of becoming a skateboard and delves into how a laminated deck of wood profoundly affects people, art, and public spaces. This unique documentary celebrates the wood and the culture that surrounds it.
The screening takes place at:
Cinespace
6356 Hollywood Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90028
Doors open at 7pm with the screening at 8pm
Jeff Roe will be in attendence for Q&A after the screening. Be there and witness the life of a skateboard and what it means to those of us who love it and live it.

Ben Pappas Found Dead
It pains us to write this, but yet another skateboarder has passed this week in Melbourne, Australia. From the Herald Sun article:
“Ben Pappas – who used to earn $15,000 a month as a teenage skate star in the US – was dragged from the water by police divers off Victoria Pier at Docklands.”
All of the details aren’t clear at this time…but we mourn the passing of another fellow skateboarder. Our thoughts and well wishes go out to Ben’s brother Tas and the rest of Ben’s friends and family.
