Madness and Bananas Down Under

Globe and Thrasher’s Double Stack Cash Attack which took place over the past three days is now in the history books. The Spotlight Productions crew ran the show and it looked to be one hell of a great time along Australia’s NE coast.

Final Results

Tizzey at Pizzey (Legendary Skate Bowl)
Black Label teammates Matt Mumford and Omar Hassan tied for 1st.

Mini Ramp Madness (Much less of a skate structure than expected)
Both David Gonzales and Chris Haslam reigned supreme and clocked in the most tricks for cash.

Varisty Double Set (A big, six-flat-seven)
Adam Dyet landed a switch back heel for $30,000 and 1st place.

For more info, photos, and video clips in the hours to come, head on over to Thrasher’s site, here, or here.

Ryan Sheckler Picked Up By Panasonic

It’s seems like Mr. Sheckler is now endorsing Panasonic headphones, HD plasma televisions, home theater systems, and other Panasonic products. Or so says this web blurb a reader ran across. Sounds like a good deal…what skater wouldn’t want a few extra big screen TVs?

This may sound a little crazy but remember, Panasonic has Koston, Carroll and a few skate photographers representing their camera line. How long until other large electronic companies get into the game? Where’s our Apple partnership?

Getting Down in the Dojo

For the entire month of March, eleven Nor Cal skate shops will be competing in a “first of its kind” skateshop video contest. Each of the eleven skateshops will separately enter Deluxe Distribution’s Dojo (The triple D, indoor TF). They’ll each get four hours to throw down, get thrown down, and film their skate sessions. The teams can do pretty much whatever they want within the four walls of the skatepark. There are rumors of a keg stand blunt to fakie already… but the Dojo is ready for anything…seriously. Each team will then edit down their sessions into 3-5 minute parts. Each part will be posted on Deluxe.com where skaters all over the world will vote for the winner.

Sound simple enough? The winning shop receives a grip of custom made stuff from Deluxe and most importantly, the bragging rights which they can own and floss for an entire year. The shit is on the line folks.

The first four shops to enter and shred the Dojo so far (in order of appearance) are: Flatspot, FTC, Skateworks and Proof Lab. With four down and seven more to go, it’s only going to get gnarlier. Stay tuned.

Voting begins on March 30th.

Doing It For Duffy

As you might have heard or seen, Pat Duffy broke his right leg while skating at Bob’s Mega Ramp several weeks ago. He’s now healing up well and walking with a cane, but his medical bills are definitely on the mega scale. His friends are throwing a benefit Rock Show and Raffle in SF on March 10th.

Be there or donate skate goods to this legendary soldier’s cause if possible. Check the flyer for contact info.

Also, in the line up for the evening, Clay Wheels will rip through a set of power chords and share stage time with Tom Knox’s band Cacti Widders.

Worrest Cornered in DC

Our pals out in DC, Chris Hall and Jimmy Pelletier have put together their first episode of a new video series they’ve recently birthed. Good stuff coming out of the Capitol city. This clip features a short interview with Bobby Worrest where he talks of his beginnings with Krooked and his thoughts of the future. His words of wisdom cite, “Just go out and skate and have fun with it.”

Well said Mr. Worrest.
