Musique Concrete?
Someone sent over this site a while back. I guess they describe it best:
‘Musique Concrete is an interactive performance piece which explores sound and the urban landscape through the physical movements on a skateboard. The result is a musical composition which transforms the skateboarder into a composer. It aims to provide an audience of all ages with a stimulating experience of new media, skateboarding, the city and sound.’
Basically the skateboard is wired to make and combine sounds and different tones happen when turning rolling or performing a trick. Check out the videos and you’ll get the idea. The guy even has a blog going to track his ‘performances’.
Crazy stuff, but all we could think about was this technology in the right hands. How can you NOT picture Gonz riding this thing. Or what about wiring metal into the laptop sound system and handing the board to Trujillo? How would Carroll’s skills sound fused with hip-hop?
Yeah, it would most likely be awful…but who knows…

The Story Of Roughneck Hardware
Well worth a watch is Johnny Roughneck a video featuring the man behind San Francisco based Roughneck hardware. I think we all wish that skating was more like a gang and less like a business. Great stuff.
