Steve Berra Talks Filmmaking
With his first film, The Good Life, playing at the Sundance Film Festival, independent movie website Indiewire has posted an interview with Steve Berra. In the piece Berra discusses the process of making his new film, life in pro skateboarding and his favorite films of 2006.
Also, go over to the Sundance Website and watch a ‘Meet The Artists’ video of Steve discussing the Good Life.
It’s nice to hear Steve talk about skateboarding being a crucial part of who he is and how film comes from some of those experiences. Let’s hope the film gets picked up and goes wide soon after Sundance. Fingers crossed.

News for Your Eardrums
Several things to announce at the moment as the weekend draws near and brings Volcom’s $35K Acid Drop Mini Ramp contest to the Surf Expo show in Orlando. After months of sponsorlessness on the board front, Torey Pudwill’s skills have blown up the internet boards and he’s soon to sign with his friends at Almost.
Meanwhile, over at the Element site there is an announcement touting the addition of Darrel Stanton to their mixed pro team. Look for the team’s full length video to drop on Go Skateboarding Day.
Also, by the time you read this, one hell of a badass and a hard working skateboarder will have his first-ever and well-deserved professional signature deck on the skateshop shelves near you. Yep, that’s right, Nick Dompierre’s time has come! One man enters…ten must leave.

Skating, Mtv And Discrimination
Mtv has been running some interesting ads looking to eliminate stereotypes and discrimination. We couldn’t help but notice this one focusing on two skaters building a half-pipe. It’s definitely a strong comment on the understood sexual roles in skateboarding.
Also worth checking out is this article which discusses both the Mtv ad and the parallels in skateboarding and the growth of gay culture. Yeah, they aren’t fully on point (“Savanna Slamma” skate park?) but it’s certainly interesting to see this community relating to skateboarding and it’s “underground” culture.

Good stuff, let’s hope he posts some more of his interviews dealing with the skate wheelie.
