Judkins and Fairfax On adidas Skateboarding

adidas skateboarding keeps growing it’s skate team, this time with the addition of amateurs Nestor Judkins and Benny Fairfax. From the press release:

“Nestor, 19, moves up from the ranks of adidas’ robust flow squad and attests, “The shoes are classics. I’ve always seen people skating Campuses, Gazelles, and Shelltoes. They just look and feel so good on the feet. Add The Gonz, Tim O’Connor, Busenitz, and Benny Fairfax to that fact, Dios mio man! That’s some nice looking skateboarding right there.”

“Benny, 23, comes to the team from the UK and states, “This team is amazing. I’ve been wearing the shoes since I was a little kid. I’m psyched to be a part of it.”

Skate Events and Gatherings

As this year comes to a close and 07 is right around the corner, there’s a swarm of skate events that we feel you should know about. First off, the 3rd Lair Skatepark is hosting its Winterbreak Skate Camp sessions with Matt Pailes (December 27th-29th) and Rob Gonzalez (Jan 3rd - 5th). Bundle up and get your shred on.

On New Years Day Lowcard hosts “The Worst Skate Jam Ever” in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park from 1pm until dark. It takes place at the “rollerskate” lot on JFK Blvd. Bring your obstacles and hangovers.

Once again, Volcom presents a $35,000 Pro Mini-Ramp Jam in association with SPoTlight Productions at Surf Expo in Orlando, Florida. It takes place at the Orange County Convention Center with demos and contests scheduled from January 11th - 14th

Thursday, Jan. 11th - Skate Demos
10:30 am - Am and Pro
1:30 pm - Am and Pro
4:30 pm - Pro Only

Friday, Jan, 12th - Am Contest
11 am - Am Practice
12 pm - Am Contest - Invite Only

Saturday, Jan. 13th - Pro Contest
11 am - Pro Practice
12 pm - Pro Contest - Invite Only
7 pm - Skateboard Hall of Fame - Florida Inductions

Sunday, Jan. 14th - Skate Demos
10:30 am - Pro Only
1 pm - Girls Skate Jam

The SPOT dudes have been busy in their hive and fully rearranged the skateable furniture (street course) for the upcoming and highly anticipated 13th annual Tampa Am. That’s right, thirteen years! The world’s best and worst ams will battle through their heats once again in that old warehouse space from January 18th through the 21st. Be there.

Leave your hammers at home. Matix is hosting a new skate competition at ASR in January dubbed as the Lord of the Lines. With a purse of $15,000, riders will have 5 tries to put together the best line of tricks connecting a flat bar, a manual pad, and an upledge. The more technical the line, the more points the rider receives. Sounds like a long overdue and great skateboarding event to us. We’ll be on the scene.

Jason Dill On Landing A Trick

EA has been pumping out the teasers for it’s new SKATE video game and most have been run of the mill. This one of Dill explaining the process of learning a trick is worth a watch.

We’re not sure if it’s the fashion or the ‘tossing cards in a hat’ comment, but Dill has something with this one.

Nash Skateboards On Fire

It seems that Nash Manufacturing in Fort Worth Texas went up in flames yesterday, a four alarm fire heavily damaging the building. It seems the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Maybe someone just couldn’t take skating an Executioner anymore. Or maybe it was an angry Nash artist still upset about that Blind board those many years ago.
