Homage to DogTown’s Godfather

Some of you might really appreciate this … Check out this clip which begins with some very rough cut footage that might be familiar to those who had seen the DogTown and Z-Boys documentary a few years back. The footage goes on to highlight still images and affected skaters along with various quotes and stories reflecting the original DogTown articles that C.R. Stecyk III had written for the original SkateBoarder magazine back in the mid 70s.

More importantly, there is an entire segment of scenes that reveal the visual exploits and perceptual intellect of DogTown’s godfather Craig Stecyk that was unfortunately cut from the film.

Spend the next twelve minutes of your life to get schooled and absorb the origins of the “Skate and Destroy” doctrine.

Interactive Trick Guide

We thought we would share this fairly extensive Interactive Skateboard Trick Guide we ran across. We didn’t have the time to check out all 264 tricks so we can’t say if it’s 100% accurate and after a quick look it does have a few missing tricks. Still, we applaud the effort put into this clever web tool.

At least ‘Frontside Indy’ isn’t on the list.

Santa Cruz Out Of Santa Cruz?

It’s not easy to run one of the largest skate operations out of a small coastal town. NHS kingpin Richard Novak is having so much trouble he may pick up and move shop. We’re guessing ‘Watsonville’ or ‘China’ won’t look as good on stickers and shirts.

Skateboarding Girls

Already banned after its brief appearance on You Tube, this tweaked skate video has been making its rounds across desktops all over the world. We’re not sure of its origins, but if the filmakers simply applied the “helmet and full pads” rule maybe they would have reached the mass market with a warmer response. No?
