Pass The Bucket With Tony Alva

Tony Alva hit a bottom four years ago battling drug addiction and alcoholism. There, at his lowest point, his reliance on successes and ego came into perspective for the first time. Tony’s fight for sobriety and truth has recently lead him to a new perspective on life and direction moving forward. Dedicated to giving back Tony now see’s passing the bucket as the only way out.

Life is too short…any positive move forward is a good thing. Hate is just…it’s draining.
I hope he does well and stays focused.
But that being said…why do so many people need to bring God up in order to see they are screwed up.

Why do people have to bring God up Jake? Because God is the author of everything my man… Man always gets in the way of God…its our nature. Especially skaters… skaters live on the anti- FTW mindset… Maybe TA is finally throwing in the towel and is sincere about his new outlook. That would be rad.

Sorry, until someone proves there is a god, and his followers stop doing horrific acts in his name, I’ll continue to believe in myself. I’m doing just fine…
I suppose when people get off drugs and booze and need something else to fill that hole, religion is an easy solution.
How about just knowing what’s right and wrong as a human being? Damn, this post is going to get crazy. Don’t reply…it won’t make a difference…

You don’t need God to get to that place. Some might argue it can more genuine and effective without God.

Man professing to be wise becomes a fool…. God made everyone in His image… thats why we skate and create. We were made by a creator God… Thats where creativity, art, music comes from, thats why we have personality… (TA, Mark Gonzales, Lance Mountain, Neil Blender, Steve Olson… etc) Now you tell me those guys came from nothing…just material, energy, and time + chance…? I agree, its not about religion either! Religion is phony and mans stupid attempt. Its about knowing the God who is really there and who made you… And if you dont believe, well God is still going to be God.
I’ve struggled with the belief in God for years…like 20 plus years. I’ve just recently let go and grew tired of the struggle. We don’t have to share the same belief and see God as every other person. We must seek and understand life and it’s wonders for what they are on an individual basis. I don’t say “I owe everything to God”—each and everytime something positive happens, nor do blame everything bad on a “Devil”. My personal acknowledgement and prayers and faith in a faceless and colorless being is all I need, but I honestly try to do right because “right” is what I’m supposed to do, with or without the thought of going to hell or heaven
TA sobers up every few years (except for pot when he became a rastafarian) after hitting “bottom”. I suppose, however, that rock bottom keeps getting lower for him.

I often see a transference of “ego” to “god”, folks claim to let go of ego, but instead of being good for goodness sake or because if feels really powerful and makes you smile they are good for god. Which is still an ego play but transfering the personal ego to a greater external ego.
Whatever I’m going to be the best me because that is what I do. No god up in here, just good because everybody deserves to be treated well. Fun stuff to talk about.

Without this guy your skate daily wouldn’t look like this. You might not even be into skateboarding. You want to do hand stands on your board. Well neither did Tony, Jay and the others. They changed everything for everybody that skates now. You might want to watch it again if your not getting it. He isn’t throwing the bible at you, so you shouldn’t feel like you have to protect yourselves with words. Hate goes both ways when you can’t let past perceptions go. Long live the Venice crew.
