Baltimore Police Officer Fired

In a news shocker for all those directly involved, Baltimore’s brash and hot-headed cop has been fired stemming from a now-famous incident with a 14-year old skateboarder which was caught on tape just over three years ago. The Baltimore Sun reports that the Baltimore Police Commissioner overruled a disciplinary panel’s recommendation today and released veteran officer Salvatore Rivieri from his duties immediately. He was within a year of retirement with full benefits. Apparently there’s truth to the saying, “Payback is a bitch.”

seeing cops get what they deserve is rare, this is not only a win for skateboarders, but for all who have been harrassed by dick cops who abuse their power.

so many cops are dicks. a few are nice. it’s amazing justice was served. in this one particular case the system works.

No doubt the dude was a prick but I am not down for the fact that after all the years on the force this guy is about to lose his 20+ years worth. I would be more than satisfied if the little shit on his board gave a good swift kick to the guys nuts with the intent of ridiculing the guy on Youtube.

If he done it once-he’s done it before. Now with video evidence there’s no turning back. A year before retirement? He has no one to blame but himself. Fuck him! Now he’ll have to get a job guarding an empty parking lot or a construction site.
Congratulations Jerkins you’ve just turned yourself into that cop with that post. Firing him is harsh, suspension is the proper punishment. The cop has been justly ridiculed for his behavior. However the content of most of these posts are far worse and show a much greater lack of character and respect by skateboarders. Being a cop this has reaffirmed my approach to the same situation, by maintaining my proffesionalism and simply issuing the proper tickets for the violation and not lowering myself to the standards exhibited in these posts. I’m sure my peers will remember this when making the decision to issue or not to issue the tickets. So your welcome.
And half of what has been posted is exactly what is wrong with this world. Makes me furious every time someone takes the side of the skateboarder. I have nothing against skateboarders, it’s the parents that make me mad. If they had raised their kid to respect authority figures this never would of happened. I’m sorry but when a police officer tells you not to ride your skateboard, the reply is “yes sir” and you leave. If that was my kid, first his skateboard would of been taken away and than he would of written an apology to that officer. I agree that the officer should of been suspended for some of the comments he made to the kid., but fired never. My grandfather was an officer in Baltimore city when you could get away with using your night stick and you were a hero. Now everybody wants to whine and than they wonder why there is so much crime.

yes respect is earned Crazyfox. And I don’t agree with everything the cop did. But if that I was my kid, I’d be more upset that my son was for one breaking the rules, and second not doing what he was told by the cop. All he had to do was just leave, not try and show off how cool he was in front of his friends. All it shows is how much of an idiot he is. If he has no respect for a cop will he have respect for anyone. I’m sorry but when I was younger, a teacher, cop, or even another parent told me not to do something I said yes and that was that, I didn’t mouth off to them. Because if my parents found out, I would not have ever seen the light of day again!!!
Look first off this whole thing was caused by a punk kid who was breaking the law. But that being said the asshole cop was a power hungry dip shit. The cops problem seems to be that the kid didn’t address him as sir or officer. Someone should tell that cop respect is earned not automatically given. And nowhere in the law does it state cops are to be reffered officer and by calling him dude is breaking the law and justifies his response.
