Power Rider Wheels and OJ Wheels Join Forces

The Northwest’s Power Rider Wheels has officially joined forces with OJ Wheels. Both urethane brands have their squads busy working on videos and tearing up concrete terrain all over the planet. Commanders Mark Scott and Alex Horn are indeed pulling a dynamic duo situation on the stunt coordination efforts, so stay tuned!

 

Joe Brook Welcomes Fatherhood

Hats off, high fives and congratulations all around to our friend and renowned skate photographer Joe Brook and his lovely wife Kara on the birth of their son yesterday. Archer Henry Brook came into the world at 7.7 lbs and 19.5″ long and word has it that the kid is already being schooled by his dad with the “film versus digital” discussion.

 

Chili Bowl Results

Saturday’s 6th annual Chill Bowl event heated up a large “grass roots” gathering of skate-starved spectators at SF’s Potrero Del Sol skatepark with Brad McClain taking charge of the graffiti-bombed stuntwood bowl with power lines and power moves, Pat Black showing how it’s done in the mix of masters and Leah Taylor holding it down for the women. David Andrade’s “Sweet Heat” recipe earned him twelve month’s worth of bragging rights until next year.

Keep on Truckin’

There’s quite a bit of skateboard truck related news this morning with his “Welcome” video and the addition of the Northwest’s Johnny Turgesen to Fury’s growing roster. Independent Truck Co. has rolled out its Fall 2010 catalog with a few videos including an edit of rapid-fire stunts with Greg Lutzka, features of the Stage X truck and their “Stupid Light” Forged Hollow truck, and a historical look at Burnside with Mark Scott, Christian Hosoi and others. Theeve chimes in with a new online feature called Mini Mondays. this first one kicks off with Chad Bartie. Thunder has premiered its epic King of Trucks video with the launch of their Fall 2010 catalog of goods and Chris Cole’s signature Cure For Breast Cancer trucks.

 

Nyjah Huston Wins $150,000 at Street League Stop #1

The last and youngest professional to sign paper with the exclusive Street League took home $150.000 for his consistently skilled efforts this afternoon in Glendale, Arizona. We can only assume that there are tears of joy streaming down his face this time around as the young and virtually sponsorless kid from Davis, CA gears up for the next Street League sanctioned event in Southern California two weeks from now. Congrats Nyjah.

Cole Qualifies First at Street League’s First Stop

The qualifying rounds are over with Chris Cole stacking first place points heading into the finals followed by Shane O’Neill, Paul Rodriguez, Sean Malto, Nyjah Huston and Chaz Ortiz yesterday. Street League Skateboarding’s™ first event, the 2010 DC Pro Tour Fueled By Monster Energy in Phoenix, AZ kicks off this afternoon where Greg Lutzka, Ryan Sheckler and Torey Pudwill will have to bust moves in the last chance qualifier in order to make it to the big show. Get Out And Do Something

Vans has announced that their ‘Get Out and Do Something Tour’ with Ray Barbee and John Cardiel will kick off Monday, August 30th at the Vans store in Virginia Beach, VA. Ray and the Mattson 2 will be performing live, followed by Cards spinning some of his favorite music. Vans will be giving away a Fender guitar, Element and Anti-Hero boards and more at each stop!
