Jake Brown Takes Big Air Gold At X-Games

Jake Brown took the gold medal in Skateboarding Big Air at X Games 16. It’s the second-consecutive gold medal for Brown, as the event moved from the Staples Center to the iconic L.A. Memorial Coliseum. “To win for the second year in a row with guys like Bob Burnquist and Rob Lorifice is a huge honor,” said Jake Brown. “Skating in the Coliseum was crazy it was like we were gladiators.” The winning run was on his second of five, where he flipped over the Big Air ramp’s gap and then stuck a 22-foot 540 out of the quarter pipe.

Jereme Rogers to Present Sk8Lyfe LA Contest

Recently unretired, skate mogul Jereme Rogers is on a new roll and continues to make moves in skateboarding. From the press release we’d received yesterday:

Hollywood Ca. July 21, 2010-Fresh out of retirement, skateboarder Jereme Rogers is back and better than ever. The pro skateboarder turned young mogul, has created an empire with his recent launch of Selfish, a new board line. Rogers has joined the SOFF team in collaboration with owner, Saint Paul, in building the brand PUSHA (Poverty Until Someone Helps Another) an apparel collection of SOFF.

Order Empire will host the first open invitational Sk8lyfe in Los Angeles. The contest that will be judged by Jereme himself, along with other pro skaters, will break new ground with the benefits provided to its competitors. Each contestant is required to submit 30 seconds of skate footage on Order Empire. Six riders will be selected for the finals and one winner will win contracts with Selfish Skateboards and PUSHA. This contest will allow Jereme to connect with both his new and old fans.

In addition, Rogers was featured in the video game “Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground”. He was also named 2006 Rookie of the year and Street skater of year. Currently, he is on his tour promoting Selfish and PUSHA, as well as working on his music career.
