If you’re in an office and can’t sneak out to skate, settle back and check out this clip from Andrew Petillo, the rolling lensman responsible for filming the East Coast skaters in the Habitat video and heavy contributor to the Static 3 vid.
Watch Fred Gall, Al Davis, Steve Durante, Dave Caddo, Jerry Fowler, Joel Meinholz, Marius Syvanen and others pushing through the streets of New Jersey, Boston, NYC & Spain in almost ten minutes of raw footage.

POPs Pics Posted

Like most people in this little skateboard world of ours, I rely on a regular job to pay the bills. One of the casualties of not having an employer that understands that you want to take off for every little event, is that you tend to miss the events you really wished to attend.
This past weekend’s POP Skatepark opening in Philly was one such event. Luckily for me I had a few spare sets of eyes and cameras on site to report back.
The chargers over at Totally Skateboards posted some great over views of the layout and some skate shots by Zoli.
This park is a perfect example of D.I.Y., done right!!!

Three comments that can ruin your session

  • 1. Are you filming for MTV’s Scarred?
  • 2. How high can you ollie?
  • 3. Why aren’t you wearing a helmet?

    Rip The Ripper Book Released

Back towards the beginning of this year, Powell-Peralta hosted the Rip the Ripper art show where fifty eight invited artists displayed their unique pieces to celebrate “The Ripper” graphic. Since countless skaters and artists have been influenced by VCJ’s image over the years, Powell-Peralta decided to do something significant that would pay respect to VCJ and get skaters stoked.
The newly release book is the culmination of passion, hard work and effort from this highly celebrated exhibit. It features the artwork that was created for The Rip the Ripper art show curated by Desiree Astorga.
Along with this collectible book, some of the remaining art pieces are available for purchase directly through SkateOne.

SHUT Team In The Cayman Islands

On Monday, while most of us were wiping the weekend from our eyes
and powering up our work weeks, the SHUT team was preparing for a week
of skate camp at the Black Pearl Skate Park in the Cayman Islands.
Javier Nunez, Todd Jordan and Luis Tolentino are guest counselors
for the week and the SHUT ‘Concierge’, Michael Cohen, is playing chaperone.
The Concierge reports that Day 1 & 2 went great, with the SHUT crew helping kids, 7 years of age and up, with tips that range from dropping in, to how to properly ollie over a motorcycle just like Luis.
FuelTV will be on site tomorrow collecting the evidence for the Daily Habit.
Check in with the SHUTNYC site for all the action. If it’s not posted yet, give ‘em time, they’re on vacation.
