Is ASR Dead?

Generally, this time of year everyone dreads making their annual trip down to San Diego for another routine ASR trip. Full of Snow Bros, hula-hoops and all things considered “extreme”, it’s refreshing to see skateboarders taking matters into their own hands, putting on their own retail show and getting back to the basics. So if you weren’t able to make to the first ever Crossroads show over at the Black Box this year, make sure to visit the Thrasher site for a complete wrap-up of the show, full of photos and even their best trick contest. In these tough economic times, this is definitely a step in the right direction for the skateboard industry.

Andrew Brophy has been on quite a roll recently. He just turned pro for Cliche, got last part in their video and even recently tied the knot. And now the guys over at DVS have given Andrew the green light to join the pro team. So head over to the DVS site and check out a little interview and video with the Australian Manchild. It’s not a bad way to spend some monitor time.

    Jason Lee Cruising

We ran across this strange little press release regarding Jason Lee’s current skate habits. “My son is five now and he’s skateboarding. On the weekends we cruise around together but we don’t do anything hard because I don’t want to get injured. But I still cruise around on the old skateboard, yeah.” We’re still hoping to see additional Berrics footage, so fingers crossed.

Vans Cab 20th Anniversary Skate Shoes

Take a look at these 20th Anniversary Cabs from Vans. Yup, it’s been 20 years since Van released this, the FIRST professionally endorsed skate shoe. These are pre-Half Cab, when street skaters started cut these shoes down for flex. If you see these in shops you better grab them quick. And skate them.
