Totally Toed

Open for less than a month, San Francisco’s Potrero del Sol skatepark has experienced heavy use (and abuse) on a
daily basis. Despite its widespread success and appeal, there’s no sound excuse for the cameltoed coping blocks
that now encircle the newly opened bowl area. Got a quick fix anyone?
DVS Goes Shopliftin’
Posted by bk - July 25th, 2008 11:40 pm
Looking to seek out and highlight many of the most amazing skateshop talent out there, DVS is kicking off Shopliftin’- a skateshop video contest like no other.
Here’s the scoop. All DVS skate shops will receive a golden ticket to participate, but only the first 100 shops to RSVP will be eligible to compete. These 100 fortunate shops will have the opportunity to produce a five-minute video segment featuring the best skateboarding with their very own shop team riders. Each team will have a solid five months to film, produce, and edit their footage. On January 31, 2009 each team will submit their footage to DVS where it will be meticulously judged collectively by DVS’ team riders on the quality of skateboarding, cinematography, editing, soundtrack, and art direction.
The skateshop that produces the best overall video will receive custom DVS shop shoes, a DVS demo, and an ad running in a major skateboard magazine announcing them as the winner of the Shopliftn’ contest. The winning shop will also have their video featured on the DVS Skate site and will have the opportunity to defend their title the following year.
Full contest details, rules and fine print are right here.
There’s certainly a lot of shop talent out there. Get to work…we want to see it!
Hey McFly…

Have you always wanted to rock a hoverboard like Marty McFly circa Back To The Future II? Well, now you can. Sort of. Check out this eBay listing where for just $30,000 smackers you can be the proud owner of the ACTUAL hoverboard prop from the film. Sure it doesn’t actually work, and the price is ridiculous, but this baby is no doubt rarer than Tony Hawk’s first pro model. Bragging rights would be yours. (spotted at haveboard.com)
