Where’s the Lapper and Skid Plate?

So you don’t have an appropriate costume for tonight’s Halloween events? Well, consider that you can always be a skateboard.

Damnation In Orange County

Amid a live web cast of the skate action, assorted Halloween costumes, a dunk tank for the ladies, and shout outs to random attendees, this past weekend’s Damn Am has been laid to rest. Of course, there were winners and losers, but in the end it was all fun in the name of skateboarding. In the finals we saw Vince Del La Valle, Nick Dompierre, Eric Fletcher, Terrell Robinson, Danny Rosario, Collin Provost and a few others battling it out with sick licks. Word has it that Tyler Hendley won.
Apparently somebody spilled their adult beverage all over scorer Tampa Rob’s laptop. Damn. Once this mess gets cleaned up, go to the official Damn Am site for a complete rundown of results citing who did what, when, where and how.

    News For Shoes

This information might be old to some of you, but there have been quite a few team rider shifts going on in the skate shoe biz. Both vet pro Anthony Van Engelen and rookie Dylan Rieder have joined the Vans team. Van Engelen and Vans have struck a multi-shoe deal. Look forward to his first signature shoe release in mid 2006 and beyond.
Elsewhere, Caswell Berry is now rocking the Osiris sole. Look for his shoe to hit the streets next year.
Also, the are rumblings of much change taking place with other riders involved at Osiris, Duffs, and Lakai. Change happens, so get used to it.

    Eric Costello Memorial and Details

This weekend there will be a memorial for Scotts Valley skater Eric Costello who passed away earlier this week. It will be held this Sunday at noon at the Scotts Valley Community Center next to the skatepark. Friends, family, and fellow skaters are still trying to figure out what happened as Costello was indeed wearing a helmet and was routinuely dropping into the bowl.
Donations may be sent to the Eric Costello Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 8483, Santa Cruz, CA 95061.

Burnquist Plans To Skate Off a Cliff

Given all of his skydiving experience in recent years, it’s really no surprise that Bob Burnquist has announced his intentions to skateboard off a cliff and parachute safely to the ground. If anyone’s going to make this feat, it’s gonna be Bob. Will he do it switch? Plans are being set…stay tuned.

    Bowl Bashing in the Netherlands

Europe’s bowlriding elite convened last weekend upon Area 51’s smooth and flawless Mu Bowl in Eindhoven, NL for the final leg of the Globe Bowlbash series. The top 20+ riders from in the UK, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Spain battled it out through heated jams until someone came out on top. That man was Marseille local, Alex Giraud. Congratulations Alex!
Based on it’s success, rumors continue to circulate about a subsequent series in 2006.
