Spitfire’s Diablo Skate Key

Throughout skateboarding’s history, there have been countless skate tools that have been developed, marketed and used by skaters all over the world. The first of them, being the Elephant wrench of which can still be found in use today. However, over time, quite a few have performed poorly and are either too cumbersome to carry without much thought or lacked required functionality altogether.
Well, the skate hellions at Spitfire have recently come through with the Diablo Skate Key, a well thought out skate tool that actually works and won’t give you a gnarly Charlie horse if you’re stupid enough to put it in your pocket and slam on it while skating. It is made of tempered steel, flat, and has many functional features that include standard skate wrench sizes of 3/8”(mounting hardware), 1/2” (wheels), and 9/16” (kingpins), plus a trusty bottle opener and a very functional grip tape file. All in all, the Diablo Skate Key is a very versatile and essential piece to all skaters that require a tool with all of the useful features without the bulkiness. And, it’s made in the USA. Stop by your local shop and demand one for your next road trip or skate session.

‘Deck Dogz’ Coming To A Cinema Near You

Opening this week in Australia is major motion picture ‘Deck Dogz’ about three skaters (named Spasm, Poker, and Blue Flame?) who track down Tony Hawk in a quest to get sponsored. Sound familar? According to this article, Little Chariots Of Fire, Tony Hawk read the script and thought it was too cool for him. From the looks of the ‘Deck Dogz Dictionary’ on their website he might be right. This film looks like the ‘jerviest’ film ever…but it doesn’t seem to stop Hawk from going ‘hibiscus’ and appearing in the film anyway.

Blender’s Got You Beat – Happy New Year!

In what many of us deem as quite possibly the best streetstyle contest run in history, Neil Blender lets it roll all for the sake of creativity in 1986 in Tempe, Arizona. Here’s to more fun and the unlimited use of your imagination in the New Year.
Thanks to those who’ve contributed to our site this year. You’ve helped us to grow and we look forward to providing skaters with the most up-to-date news and skate-related events in the months and years to come. If you’re gonna drink over the weekend…don’t drive. Thanks.

    Crail Tap’s Year In Pictures

The Tap (the site that supports Chocolate, Girl, Four Star, and Lakai among others) has posted a slick ‘Year In Pictures’ Quicktime film (7.8mb). It features tons of great photos of all your favorite skaters and even includes a hip soundtrack. Nice year end wrap up…very nice.

    Washington DC’s Green Skate Lab

The Green Skate Lab project in Washington, DC has been working the past two years trying to construct a concrete skatepark made from completely donated and recycled materials and volenteer community labor. It’s been a tough road so far. This article from the Washington City Paper, gives a solid overview of their struggle to get a REAL statepark for DC. A great group of people with great ideas (recycled materials, free park admission, no helmets, etc.).
